As the name suggests, we tried to illustrate the concept of our gastropub in every detail – the interior, the bar menu, the cuisine and the background music.
This is a pub with a cozy and distinct atmosphere, located in the historical center of Moscow, on Tverskoi boulevard. In search of inspiration, we were looking back on the the post-soviet times, when there was a nice restaurant with traditional russian cuisine, affordable prices and home atmosphere, located in this exact building. We were eager to integrate russian cuisine and craft alcohol into the interior and the atmosphere of a British pub, only seen from a more contemporary ‘russian’ angle. We did not neglect English traditions, but adapted them to our culture, filling a traditional English pie with Sroganov meat and making Burgers, the most popular meal of any bar, with salo (cured pork fat). Traditional bruschettas and smorrebrods were replaced by sandwiches (“buters” – rus.) with caviar of roasted vegetables, with cod liver, sandwiches with minced caspian herring and salted farmer beef.
